Draft Local Plan Review Consultation – new drop in session.

A new drop in session where the Draft Local Plan can be discussed with Council officers has been scheduled for Monday 23 January, 10am-4pm in the café at Asda Shirley (Parkgate).

A reminder that we want to hear from you so that a final plan will be effective in guiding the future development of the borough.

We are asking all residents, businesses, developers and the many other stakeholders to take a look at the Draft Local Plan Review here and submit comments via the online portal.

This Draft Local Plan will eventually replace the current Local Plan (December 2013), which the Council decided to review following the legal challenge to the housing requirement in the current Plan.

It is important for Solihull’s future that the borough has a plan in place that will support the creation of new jobs and homes in a planned and sustainable manner, while retaining the essential ‘Urbs in Rure’ character of the area.

You can discuss the plan in person with Council officers working on the Review at the following locations during January:

Balsall Common Library – Saturday 7 January, 11am-3pm

Knowle Library – Saturday 14 January, 11am-3pm

Asda Shirley, Parkgate (in the café upstairs) – Monday 23 January, 10am-4pm

Grant Success for the Neighbourhood Plan

Hockley Heath Parish Council have today heard that they have been successful in getting a grant to cover the initial costs associated with the development of the Neighbourhood Plan.

The grant,   from the Community Rights Programme (funded by the Dept for Communities and Local Government) is for £2,843 and will be used to develop and analyse the questionnaire which will go to all parish residents in the New Year.

There will be a community consultation day on Saturday 14th January in the Pavilion, which will be your chance to look at Solihulls local plan, and discuss what you would like to see happen in Hockley Heath.  A leaflet will be coming round to all households over the coming weeks to explain more about the process.
