Uncontested Hockley Heath Parish Council Election – May 2023

Solihull Council has published the notice of election candidates. There are 5 Councillor seats in Hockley Heath Parish Council and 3 members of the community stood for election, this means it is an uncontested election with the 3 Councillors elected, and two vacancies to fill through a co-option process. In due course (second week in May), the two vacancies can be formally advertised, but in the meantime if any members of the community are interested in learning more about the role of a Councillor please contact the Clerk at hhpc2009@hotmail.com. Prospective Parish Councillor candidates must be proposed and seconded by two people on the electoral register for the area. Solihull Council can check whether your proposer and seconder are on the electoral register for this area and supply their elector number (the Clerk to HHPC can also access this information).

Completed nomination papers must be hand delivered to Solihull Council from 23rd March 2023 and before 4pm on 4th April 2023, late entries will NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Solihull Council prefers you to make an appointment with them so they can check the nomination paper has been completed correctly, appointments are available between 10am – 4pm from 23/3/23 – 4/4/23. Parish Council Elections – Stand for Election from 22nd March 2023

This is a new election period for Hockley Heath Parish Council and Solihull Council will be publishing a notice of election on 22nd March 2023; Parish Council elections are usually every four years. The Parish Council has all five Councillor seats available for election (5 seats is the number determined by Solihull Council for the Hockley Heath Parish). If six or more candidates stand for the Parish Council, there will be a contested election, with voting on 4th May 2023. If five candidates or less stand, then all candidates will be automatically appointed as Parish Councillors with effect from 9th May 2023. Election Briefing for Candidates – Parish Council Elections May 2023

Solihull Council’s preparations for the town and parish council elections on 4th May 2023 are now underway and they will be running an election briefing for candidates. The briefing will take place on Tuesday 21 February 2023 at 6pm in the Civic Suite, Manor Square, Solihull, B91 3QB. M40/M42 Interchange – Overnight Motorway Closures and Diversions

Diversion through Hockley Heath will take place between 9pm – 6am.

The Parish Council has been informed by National Highways that the M40/M42 interchange scheme to upgrade the safety barrier will result in slip road and motorway lane closures and diversions through Hockley Heath/A3400. The dates are:

6 to 13 February 2023 – Local diversion (from Henley in Arden): A3400 to M42 J4 southbound.

24 February & 27 February to 5 March 2023 – Local/secondary diversion route: A441, A4023, A435, A4819, A3400, M40 J16, M42 northbound to J3A.

A3400 Stratford Road, Hockley Heath – Carriageway Resurfacing

Notice of Temporary Road Closures from 8pm until 6am Commencing 16th January 2023 – Box Trees Road to Aylesbury Road.

Closure will be in place for a maximum of 4 nights only between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs only commencing week beginning Monday 16th January 2023 at 20:00hrs and ending on Saturday the 21st January 2023 at 06:00hrs. At all other times the road will remain open.

Alternative routes for traffic will be signed via Box Trees Road, Four Ashes Road, Earlswood Road, Grange Road and Aylesbury Road. Vice versa for the opposite direction.

Access will be maintained through the site for Police, Fire and Ambulance Services responding to emergencies.

Vehicle access to properties within the closure area on the A3400 will be permitted.

Pedestrian access to all properties within the restriction and access through the restriction will be maintained along defined routes throughout the period of closure.

Consultation on Change from 30mph to 20mph in Hockley Heath for School Road, Blackberry Avenue, Lindhurst Drive, Muntz Crescent and Tysoe Close

Solihull Council are running a consultation on a proposal to reduce the speed limit on the above roads. Solihull Council Proposed Parking Restrictions in Hockley Heath Locations

A number of parking restrictions for Hockley Heath are being proposed in response to residents raising parking and safety issues to both the Parish Council and Solihull Council, over a number of years. A consultation opens tomorrow (27/10/22) on the proposed restrictions, and we would urge you to engage with the Solihull Council consultation process and inform Solihull Council of any support or objection to the proposed restrictions for Hockley Heath. National Moment of Reflection in Memory of HRH Queen Elizabeth II

The public have been invited to take part in a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy.

The National Moment of Reflection will take place at 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the State Funeral, and be marked by a one-minute silence.

The silence can be marked privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or the street with neighbours, or at locally arranged community events and vigils.

The Parish Council would like to welcome members of the public wishing to gather for the National Moment of Reflection to the Pavilion at 7.45pm on Sunday 18th September, where tea and coffee will be provided, and the one-minute silence observed at 8pm.

Residents wishing to lay flowers can do so in the Memorial Garden on the corner of the A3400 and Old Warwick Road.
