GPS Healthcare is hosting a free community Mental Health and Wellbeing Event – Saturday 17 October 2026 (9am to 1pm)

GPS Healthcare is hosting a free community Mental Health and Wellbeing Day this month, giving local residents the chance to meet a range of support services, have informal conversations about mental health, and find out what help is available in their local area.
GPS Healthcare, which serves approximately 40,000 patients across six sites in Solihull, will open the doors of Meadowside Family Health Centre on Saturday 17 October from 9am to 1pm. The event is free to attend, no appointment is needed, and everyone is welcome, whether attending for themselves, a family member, or simply to find out more.
The event is timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10 October, an annual global awareness day dedicated to improving education, raising awareness and reducing stigma around mental health. With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in any given year, GPS Healthcare says events like this are an important part of helping communities access support before problems escalate.
Anyone attending on the day will have the opportunity to meet and speak with representatives from Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs, Birmingham Mind, Samaritans, SIAS, Alcohol Change UK, Family Equip Team and Robin Centre. GPS Healthcare also hopes to welcome local physical activity champions on the day to talk through the benefits that improving diet and increasing exercise can have on mental health.
Meadowside Partner Dr Kiruban Ruthireswaran said: “Mental health is just as important as physical health, and our mental and physical wellbeing are closely connected. Sometimes simply having the chance to talk, connect with others, or find out what support is available can make a real difference. We want this event to be a welcoming and relaxed space for our patients and the wider community. There is no need to have a specific reason to come along.”
Following the success of last year’s event, GPS Healthcare hopes the day will help residents discover services that may be of use to them or someone they care about.
The event is completely free and open to all. No appointment is needed and residents can drop in any time between 9am and 1pm at Meadowside Family Health Centre, 30 Winchcombe Road, Solihull, B92 8PJ.
